Jacquelyn Kim

Jacquelyn Kim of Vernon Hills, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Jacqui’s story starts on August 17, 1974, the second daughter of four to Mr. & Mrs. Tae Seon and Han Suk Lee. She was born in Seoul, South Korea. When she was four years old, her family first immigrated to Chicago and then later moved to Orland Park, IL, where she spent most of her childhood. There she attended Carl Sandburg High School. After graduating, she entered University of Illinois at Chicago and received a degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD). Jacqui was a loving daughter and sister. Her love and care for those near and close to her heart always came before herself. While continuously striving for excellence as a student, she always made time for family. Jacqui made time to help with the family business and took care of her younger siblings. No matter how tired she may have been, when her younger sister or parents needed her assistance, she was there. Whether her parents needed her for translations or sister needed a ride, she always accommodated. She was also much more adventurous than any of her siblings. Jacqui was the one coming with ideas and plans for the family to do things together. Family trips were usually her ideas, which created many happy and fond memories of time spent together. Jacqui married her husband, Scott Kim, on May 19,2002, and embarked on a journey to build a family together. Their first child, Caleb Kim, was born in 2003, with their second, Mikaela Kim, arriving in 2008. A savvy multitasker, Jacqui balanced a challenging career with tending to the needs of her parents and in-laws, helping out with school projects, shuttling her children to sports events and music lessons, and most importantly spending time with friends and family, which she always valued. Jacqui was a truly compassionate and giving person who touched the lives of others with a beautiful heart. Her spirit filled many people with the incredible joy that came with knowing her. Her passion was her family, but she treated her friends like family as well. Jacqui loved get-togethers, traveling and trying out new experiences, such as eating an exotic dish or bungee jumping in New Zealand. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. She will be missed dearly for her willingness to help others, her child-like smile and her quirkiness as we remember who she was and the imprints she left in each of our lives. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Scott Kim; her son, Caleb Kim; her daughter, Mikaela Kim; her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Tae Seon and Han Suk Lee; her sisters, Young Seon and Lucy Lee; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
