Evon S. Rogers

Evon S. Rogers, 83, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 with her loving family by her side and is now reunited with her husband. She was born on July 2, 1938 in Springfield, IL to Lucy (nee Cravens) & W.C. Shaffer, Jr. Evon moved to the Chicagoland area in 1963 and was a former 40-year resident of Libertyville, currently living in Grayslake for the past 6 years. Evon was able to be a stay-at-home mom with her daughters, Beth & Jenny. While at home, she also completed an accounting certification program at Harper College and then later began her career at Westmoreland medical practice for close to 30 years as an office manager. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville. Evon and her loving husband, Del lived a true love story beginning as high school sweethearts marrying on April 20, 1957. They loved traveling, both in the U.S. and overseas and they enjoyed retirement in many wonderful places. Throughout her life, Evon brought joy to those who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend with a kind heart that touched all that she knew. No matter the occasion, Evon presented herself with grace and elegance. While battling the devastating illness of dementia, her heart stayed strong and nothing could diminish her beauty, charm and love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially by those who knew her as Grandma Eon. Surviving are her cherished daughters, Beth Dever & Jenny (Jeremy Oswald) Rogers; precious grandchildren, Sarah (Kevin Knodel) Blue, Joseph Delmar (Leah Sibbio) Blue, Danielle Smith, Tiffany (Sid) Estrada & Gary (fiancée Sarah Bratt) Dever; darling great grandchildren, Layla Belle, Hayden Blue & Rowan Monroe Knodel, Aubrey & Regan Smith and Pearce, Paisley & Preston Estrada; her brother, William C. Shaffer, III and by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Delmar “Buck” Rogers, Jr. on August 16, 2021. A visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Hart Presbyterian Church,7862 Buffalo Hart Rd. in Williamsville, IL with interment to follow at Constant Cemetery.
