Carol Ann Randall

Carol Ann Randall (nee Sorensen) passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in Vernon Hills, Illinois at the age of 84. She was born February 16, 1938 in Newport, Rhode Island and had been a lifelong resident of Warwick, Rhode Island. Carol received her Bachelor's degree from Bryant College and her Masters degree from University of Rhode Island. Carol was a teacher in the Warwick public schools and went on to teach at Johnson & Wales University where she became Head of the Department of Secretarial Skills and Court Reporting. She retired in 1998 as Professor Emeritus after 26 years. Carol was a president of Rhode Island Business Education Association, an associate member of National Court Reporters Association, and an evaluator of court reporting programs. Carol was a charter member of St Peter’s Church in Warwick, where she taught religious education for 15 years and was a member and officer of the Christian Family Movement. Since 1996, she was an enthusiastic volunteer at Roger William Park Zoo, earning the title Life Docent with over 8000 hours of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles and knitting. Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Ray. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August. They were blessed with four children: Thomas (and Susan), Stephen, Karen (and Milos), and David (and Kristen). They are also blessed with eleven grandchildren plus spouses: Emily (and Matt), Peter (and Chelsea), Noah (and Sarah), Fred (and Shona), Soren, Kathryn, Igi, Maya, Brad (and Sara), Alex, and Matt. They also have five great grandchildren: Theo, Riley, Sam, Anna, and Bear. Carol is predeceased by her two sisters, Margaret Sorensen and Eleanor (and Walter) West. She was the youngest daughter of Frederic and Grace Sorensen, also of Warwick, Rhode Island. Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block West of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary of Vernon Church, 236 US RT 45, Indian Creek, Illinois. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery.
