William "Billy" Altenbern
May 19, 1988 - October 8, 2021
Bill, or Billy as he will be fondly remembered by his family, was called home to his Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill will be remembered as a lover of music; often played so loudly he could be heard blocks away or rattling your windows. Bill was a loyal friend; always willing to help. He loved and enjoyed food, often requesting spaghetti for special occasions. He loved to play and watch sports; playing several as a kid and more recently enjoying Fantasy Football. Bill’s faith was strong; cemented by his early school years at St. John Lutheran School and being a life-long member of St. John. His loved ones can rest assured Billy was one of Jesus’s little lambs and was ready to join his other family members called home before him. He is preceded by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Donna; maternal grandparents, Harry and Helmi; and aunts Linda P, Patty, and Linda A. He will be dearly missed by his parents, Helmi and Bill, and his sister, Lizzie (Jake), and the family dog Ellie, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends. We ask that in Bill’s memory, consider a donation to St. John Tuition Fund to support other little lambs coming to faith. We also ask that in his honor you play your favorite song as loud as your ears can take. As a child, Billy would often say good-bye mix-matching phrases. So Billy, we will see you in “a couple of whiles” until our Lord calls us home. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Funeral -services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, 501 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville.
