May 4, 1936 - January 7, 2021
Virginia M. Amatucci, 84, died on Thursday, January 7, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home in Mundelein, Illinois. She lived her life with an uncommon optimism, a beautiful sense of levity and ease of laughter, and a rare thoughtfulness and unselfishness. Those who knew her recognized that these attributes were rooted in her relationship with Jesus. She was easy to love by those who were close to her and easy to like by acquaintances. She was so much fun to be around! Her beacon of peacefulness and lovingness shone brightly on all who would devote a careful eye, and her family would refer to her as “lady” because she epitomized the word through her natural elegance, poise, and decency toward others. She was born on May 4, 1936 in Puerto Rico. She relocated to New York in 1950 and married her husband, Louis Amatucci Sr., in 1958. She and her small but devoted and loving family lived in New York for most of their lives until 2017. In 2017, she moved to Illinois and lived three homes away from her only son—her dream and her son’s dream. Sadly for their entire family, the dream was suddenly cut short. On December 20, 2020, at 84 years young, she was her usual cheerful and healthy self, and on December 31, 2020, she was diagnosed with stage 4 biliary cancer. On the day that her son informed her that her cancer was untreatable, she calmly comforted her weeping son with the words “Don’t cry, don’t cry, this must be God’s will.” To the surprise and devastation of everyone who knew and loved her, she died one week after her diagnosis. Virginia received her Master’s degree from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York, and found much fulfillment as a child and family therapist for over a decade. In addition, she was a member of the WellSpring Adventist Church in Schaumburg, Illinois. Virginia lived her retired years by spending most of her days with son, her daughter-in-law, and her 19-month-old grandson, all of whom loved spending time with her. She is survived by her adoring son, Louis, her loving daughter-in-law, Rebeka, and her precious grandson, her “little Jamesie.” She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Louis Amatucci, Sr., who passed on April 29, 2012. A visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by a service at 4:00 p.m., on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. Libertyville, Illinois. Interment will be at St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, New Yok. For info: 847-362-3009 or share a memory at www.burnettdane.com.
