Joan M. Herbst, 82, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL. She was born June 23, 1938 in Lemont, IL, and was a former resident of Knollwood, living in the Libertyville area for 60 years where she was a Language Arts teacher at Highland Middle School for 33 years. Joan enjoyed photography and was a member of Lake County Camera Club. She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed taking walks and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her son, Charlie (Julie) Herbst, and by her 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan and Paige Herbst. She is also survived by her brother, Stan (Sandy) Hurst and nephews Doug and Danny Hurst. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stan & Lena Hurst, her son, Jack Herbst in 1979 and her former husband and dear friend, Charles Herbst. Due to the current restrictions of the pandemic, a memorial service will be scheduled summer of 2021. Interment will be at Willow Lawn Memorial Park in Vernon Hills.
