Jess J. Porres

December 31, 1938 - February 19, 2022

Jess J. Porres, 83, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 in Libertyville. He was born Dec. 31, 1938 in New York, NY, attended McBurney HS in Manhattan where he played soccer and was an all-city goalie on the soccer team. He was a graduate of Western Illinois University and earned his Master’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago. In high school, Jess joined the US Army National Guard Reserves. He later taught at Diamond Lake School and became principal of the West Oak Building. He then became business manager in District #102 in LaGrange and finished his career at Hawthorn District #73 as an assistant superintendent in 2001. He continued working as a consultant for Libertyville/Vernon Hills district #128. He also coached Little League baseball and GLSA soccer and was active in getting GLSA started. Jess was an avid reader and a huge fan of the New York Yankees, Rangers, Giants, Knicks and was a record keeper of all record keepers. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Linda Porres; 2 children, Meridy and Todd. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service during the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville. An interment service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Libertyville in June 2022.
