Ilija Trivanovic passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2022. He was born on December 26, 1936 in Gornji Dobretin, Yugoslavia. While fiercely proud of his Serbian heritage, he emigrated to the US in 1971 as a Structural Engineer to pursue a better life for his family. Ilija led a long, fulfilling and happy life. He loved spending time with family, friends, playing chess, gardening, and was an avid sports fan. Growing up, he played soccer competitively and continued his love of the game while coaching his son’s and grandkids’ soccer teams. He is survived by wife Nada, daughter Ana (Matt) Versaggi, son Vuk (Shanin) Trivanovic, son-in-law Zoran Mihajlovic, nine grandkids, and greatly love nephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Una Mihajlovic. Visitation will be at 10:30am on Monday, January 17 at St Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery 32377 N. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville, IL followed immediately by funeral services and interment. In remembrance of Ilija’s life, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to St Basil of Ostrog Serbian Orthodox Church, 27450 N. Bradley Road. Lake Forest, IL.
