Harold Melvin “Hal” Young, 77, of Grayslake, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was born March 24, 1944 in Chicago to Kenneth and Laura (Weber) Young. Hal married Patricia A. Triska on October 9, 1978 in Lake Villa, IL. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, having served a tour in Vietnan and his military experience led him to a career as an aircraft maintenance crew chief for Pan America World Ways and later worked for and retired from Delta Airlines. After retirement, Hal worked as a mechanic on multi-faceted ground equipment used by the Grayslake Park District. Formerly of Vernon Hills, Hal had made Grayslake his home for the past 27 years and had been a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Libertyville. He was also an active member of Adopt A Husky, Inc. to foster & rehab the lost and injured Siberian Husky’s for adoption. In 2007, Hal wrote a book called, “The Huskies and The Christmas Fawn”, the books purpose was to entertain his grandchildren and all book profits went to advance the goals of AAHI. Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Patricia; a son, Glenn (Bonnie) Young; stepdaughter, Tanya Agonath (Paul) Kreulach; and grandchildren, Glenn & Bonnie’s, Lauren & Alex Young and Tanya & Paul’s, Jenelle & Kelly Kreulach. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Barbara A. and Glenn Young. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, 501 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, IL.
