Gavin Catapat Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Friday, July 22, God called Gavin Catapat home to heaven. Gavin had completed his sixth-grade year at St. John and would have been in seventh grade this coming year. Although Gavin was confined to a wheelchair, that never stopped him from letting his light shine to the best of his ability. He was a very talented artist, a hard worker, and incredibly resilient. We join with Gavin's family in mourning their loss, but also in celebrating Gavin's eternal victory with Jesus. One of Gavin's favorite hymns was "Jesus, Grant That Balm and Healing." The final verse of that hymn provides a fitting close to this message: "O my God, my rock and tower, grant that in your death I trust, knowing death has lost its power since you crushed it in the dust. Savior, let your agony ever help and comfort me; when I die be my protection, light and life and resurrection." Surviving are his parents, Gerando & Airene Catapat; brother, Gerwyn; maternal grandmother, Inocencia Lobo and paternal grandmother, Digna Catapat. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Amando Lobo and paternal grandfather, Gerardo Catapat. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 22333 Erhart Rd. in Mundelein.
