Gary T. Swanson

November 5, 1939 - March 23, 2022

Gary T. Swanson, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Advocate Condell Medical Center Libertyville. He was born November 5, 1939 in Omaha, NE where he would graduate from Central High School and earn a B.A. from the University of Omaha with a degree in Journalism. Gary was employed by the Honeywell Corporation for several years before becoming an independent sales representative for Photographic products. He kept up with current events by reading the newspaper; he never rushed anything and loved problem solving, which was evident in his love for crossword puzzles. He had a passion for cars and also loved to work on them, especially his beloved corvette. He had a fondness for food and cooking which would regularly have him planning dinner in the morning which became an important daily routine. Gary loved 50’s music, Jazz, being outdoors, and spending time with family, especially his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters. Gary will be missed by all who knew him but most of all by family and his neighbors on Butterfield Lane. He was survived by his daughter, Sheryl (Michael) LaRoi; and by his granddaughter, Michelle LaRoi. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Swanson, Son, Brian, and by his granddaughter Christine LaRoi. Services will be private for the family, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
