Doris M. Sundell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris M. Sundell, 89, went home to our Loving Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 23, 2022 after struggling with lung cancer for the last 21 months of her life. She took her last breath on this earth at Integrated Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Libertyville where she was cared for the last 2 months. She was born August 17, 1932 in Freemont Township, IL to parents, Anthony and Esther (nee Schreiber) Roseler. Doris married Vernon James Sundell January 27, 1951 In Blue Island, IL by the Justice of the Peace and retired from JC Penny after 25 years in furniture sales where she excelled her goal many times. During her marriage of 50 years to Vernon, Doris enjoyed many family and friends gathering at their home on the pond in Mundelein, IL. Wonderful memories were made there by all. After the passing of her late husband, Vernon, in 2000, Doris moved to Grayslake where she had remained a resident until her death. Doris enjoyed her later years with family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved traveling across the country and overseas with her companion of 17 years, Reginald Collymore and many friends from the senior groups of which they belonged. They also loved attending plays, dancing and cruising. Doris took every opportunity of having many breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners with loved friends from her many groups. Doris is survived by her son, Darrell (late wife Karen), daughter, Christine Jenison (Fred Nielsen), and son David Sundell (Judy), 9 Grandchildren, Justin (Courtney), Jason (Tamani), Jay (Michelle), Kyle, Alex (Allison), Kevin (Julie), Sam, Halle, and Ellah. Also 8 Great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon J Sundell; 4 siblings Norman Roseler, Evelyn Larmer, William Roseler, Robert Roseler, Daughter-in-law Karen Sundell and 2 great grandchildren Chance Job Jenison and Baby Jenison. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, 501 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Interment will follow to Willow Lawn Memorial Park in Vernon Hills. In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcomed at St. John’s Lutheran School 501 W. Park Avenue Libertyville IL 60048.
