Christiane "Chris" Magiera

December 25, 1929 - April 21, 2022

Christiane H. “Chris” Magiera, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 21, 2022. She was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Mittelwalde, Germany, and has been a Libertyville resident since 1972. She was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church in Grayslake, an Associate Member the Town and Country Garden Club in Libertyville and Member of the Art Institute of Chicago. Chris was an active participant and supporter of the arts. Her love of opera, classical music and art was a source of great joy in her life and she supported numerous organizations in the greater Chicago area with memberships and generous donations. She was a voracious reader who loved her books and a seasoned traveler racking up countless frequent flyer miles exploring foreign lands and visiting relatives and friends abroad. An avid and accomplished skier her entire life all the way into her 80’s, Chris would take every opportunity she could to get out into the mountains and spend time schussing the slopes with friends and family. She spent many years in key roles at the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council and was an enthusiastic steward of Midwest ski racing. Surviving are three sons, Edward (Linda) Magiera of Libertyville, Robert (Cindy) Magiera of Chicago and Stephen (Linda) Magiera of Macomb, MI; two Grandchildren, Brittany Hock and Jacquelyn Magiera; two Great Grandchildren, Sophia and Grayson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1998 and her brothers Kurt, Gerhard and Martin Bittner. Visitation will be from l0 am until time of a service at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville.
