Rickey Myles

Rickey Myles, 69, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 in Libertyville, IL. He was born October 4, 1956 in Chicago, IL. He spent his formative years in Waukegan, IL before settling in Libertyville, which he called home for the past 25 years. Rickey graduated from Waukegan High School and attended Jackson State University (JSU) in Jackson, MS where he received his Finance Degree. He was an outstanding collegiate track and field star. While attending JSU, Rickey became a six-time NAIA All-American and was inducted into the JSU Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2013. After 40 devoted years at Lake Forest High School (LFHS), he retired. More than a staff member, Rickey was a constant presence and source of energy, encouragement and “Scout pride” for generations of students. His voice, often heard through a megaphone on game days, became part of the rhythm of LFHS. In recognition of his dedication LFHS honored him with a “Rickey Myles Day” on April 11th, celebrating a legacy built on commitment, heart and service. Rickey also received an award from the Senior Hall of Fame for his volunteer work on MainStreet Libertyville. Rickey was the only child to Willie and Virginia who loved him dearly. He shared a very special bond with his grandparents with whom he had many fond memories. Rickey enjoyed golfing, bowling, cruising in his Tahoe and road tripping on his motorcycle. You always knew it was Rickey on the road because of his red converse shoes. Most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His contributions and kind spirit will always be remembered. He is survived by his is wife of 21 years, Lori Myles; 2 sons, Rickey and Ryan (Mary) Myles; 2 bonus children, Heather and Bronson (Chloe) Gahagan and by grandchildren, Ryan, Frankie, Anabella, Mia and Levi. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Willie & Virginia Myles, and faithful pups Payton & Elway. A celebration of life will be held on March 7, 2026 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville.
