Marilynn A. Pirruccello

Marilynn Ann (nee Hanson) Pirruccello, 97, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 in Glenview, IL. She was born on April 13, 1925 in Moline, Illinois to Swan and Florence Hanson. She was raised there, along with her sister Beverly, near to her grandparents and cousins. During high school, she worked for Strombeck-Becker, and after graduation, she earned her R.N. at Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing. After taking her nursing boards, Marilynn accepted a job with United Airlines, which afforded her many opportunities for travel. While working for the airline, she met Frank W. Pirruccello, M.D., a young doctor who was completing his military commitments and was soon to be starting his residency at the University of Wisconsin in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The couple married in 1949 and lived in Wisconsin until they relocated to Illinois where Frank set up private practice. They lived for many years in Evanston, Winnetka, Libertyville and Lake Forest. Marilynn resumed her professional nursing activity in her husband’s surgical practice for a decade before the couple retired to Baraboo, Wisconsin, remaining there until Frank passed away in 2001. Marilynn’s family was at the center of her life. She loved nurturing young people and provided a wholesome environment for her children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and stayed well-informed of current events. She had a beautiful voice, and Marilynn was a great fan of the music of her generation and beyond. Travel, classic films, art, musical theater, and the works of Jane Austen were among Marilynn’s lively interests. She loved animals. No one had a greener thumb than she, and Marilynn enjoyed flower gardening immensely. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by eight children, Frank, Jr. (Ann Drey), Bo, Lynn Kanter (Jerry), Susan Wilderotter (James), Jill, Ann, Steve and John (Lisa Baumeyer); twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and other caring relatives Deborah and Daphne Pirruccello, Kirk and Gary Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pirruccello on May 17, 2001. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville, IL.
