Kenneth S. Borcia

Kenneth S. Borcia, a loving husband, father, grandfather, esteemed bankruptcy attorney, and a man of many passions, passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 13, 1943, in Evanston, IL, Kenneth led a remarkable life filled with accomplishments, love, and cherished memories. Ken grew up in Skokie, IL. His strong passion for basketball led him to become the MVP at Niles East High School, where he graduated in 1962. It’s also where he met the love of his life, Joan. The two had an instant connection and married at the young age of 18. After graduating high school, Ken went on to play basketball at Yankton College in South Dakota. He was incredibly intelligent and received his bachelor's degree in economics at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. His ambitious spirit led him to start working as an agent for the IRS. This opened the door to him accepting a position as an ATF special agent for The United States Treasury Department. He loved this job, and was very successful at it, until he got injured in an automobile accident, which forced him to retire. This was a turning point for Ken as he needed a career change. That’s when he decided he wanted to become an attorney. He attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, graduating in 1980 with a Juris Doctor Degree. After passing the bar with flying colors, Ken immediately began building his practice and established his well known law firm, Kenneth S. Borcia & Associates. His commitment to his clients and his practice was unwavering. He had a strong passion for helping people and loved to make them laugh along the way with the many stories he told. Over the span of four decades, he grew his practice, becoming a very successful Bankruptcy Attorney and well-respected figure in the legal community. His expertise and guidance helped countless individuals navigate challenging financial situations, providing them with hope and a fresh start. Together, Ken and Joan built a beautiful family, raising five children and welcoming seventeen grandchildren into their lives. Family was at the core of Ken’s being, and his dedication and love for his wife and children knew no bounds. He cherished every moment spent with his family, creating lasting memories that will be forever treasured. Beyond his professional achievements, Ken had a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman who loved spending his time on his boat over the years in Lake Geneva, WI and Bangs Lake in Wauconda. He was also exceptionally creative and made his own very unique artwork. Ken had a passion for cooking and loved serving his famous spaghetti dinners with his homemade sauce. He also enjoyed watching horse racing and would often go to Arlington Race track, where he owned many race horses. He was the biggest animal lover of all kinds, but his most cherished were his dogs. His many dogs were the true best friends of his life. Ken leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unconditional support for his family and community. His kindness, wisdom, humor and larger than life personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Borcia; five children, Lori (Charles) Lintner, James (Margaret) Borcia, John Borcia, Nicole (Christopher) Tournas, Kelly (Preston) Dane; 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild; and by his sister Kathy Borcia. He was preceded in death by his grandson Tony Borcia in 2012. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. untitl the time of service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 10 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W.
