Gracy Sebastian

Gracy Sebastian, 76, was called home to be united with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her children and transitioned peacefully. Gracy was born on October 30th, 1946, in Melukavu, Kerala. She was the first of five children of Mariamma and Devasia Valiamplackal. She lived in Pala, Kerala during the time of her education while the rest of her family moved to their current ancestral home in Mananthavady, Wayanad. After earning her Bachelor's degree in English she started her career in the Office of the Accountant General (AG's Office, federal govt) at Trivandrum and went on to retire as Senior Auditor in 2005. She married Sebastian Mathew in May 1977 and settled down in Trivandrum. Her beloved husband of 44 years, Sebastian, died in 2021. She was a loving mother to her children and a doting ammachi to her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and gardening. Raised in faith from her childhood, she was a firm believer in Jesus and had a thankful heart always. She would choose to submit her needs to the Lord rather than ask help from anyone else. She had a great empathizing ability and was known to be a blessing to many of her friends and acquaintances. When times got tough she would trust in the Lord with all her heart and express gratitude ardently. Even during her final weeks when she was weakened in health she continued to sing praises and give thanks fervently and was strengthened in the word of God. She is survived by her children (Roy and Rani), daughter-in-law (Elizabeth), and four brothers (Sebastian, Alexander, Dominic, and Joseph) and their families, and grandchildren (Daniel, Hannah, and Timothy). Preceding her in death were her husband and parents. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and friends. It is with deep sadness we bid farewell to her on this earth, but we will meet her once again on the shores of heaven along with our dad. Visitation and services will start at 10:00 am on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 West Park Avenue, Libertyville, Illinois.
