Daniel Pacheco

Daniel Pacheco, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Mundelein, Illinois, on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Born on November 18, 1942, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Dan spent many years there before relocating to Illinois. He earned his bachelor’s degree from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and later received his master’s degree from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. Dan was a longtime resident of Libertyville, Illinois, and had lived in Mundelein for the past seven years. Dan dedicated his career to engineering and manufacturing as a forensic mechanical engineer for heavy equipment companies, including Allis-Chalmers and Fiat-Allis following its acquisition. He later worked for Polytechnic, Inc. in Lincolnwood, eventually purchasing the company and continuing operations from Mundelein until his retirement. Anyone who knew Dan, loved him. He was up for anything, everyone was welcome and he always made sure everyone was having a good time. Dan loved his family unconditionally, was incredibly intelligent and passionate about his boats, fireworks, rockets & a good cocktail. Dan enjoyed boating and sailing, family vacations, reading science fiction, and watching beloved favorites such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends. He was a devoted animal lover, especially of dogs, and will be dearly missed by his faithful companion, Bruno. Above all else, Dan cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. They will forever treasure memories of building rockets together, sharing the simple joys of fireworks and exploding watermelons. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Frances “Fran” Pacheco; his four children, Bonnie Pacheco, Jeffrey (Linda) Pacheco, Scott Pacheco, and Amanda Pacheco; nine grandchildren, Robin, Charles, Natalie (Joseph), JoJo, Grey, Carmen, Kleio, Felix, and Griffin; and two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Abigail. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Pacheco. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Wauconda, IL.
