Dale A. Lothspeich

.Dale Albert Lothspeich, 83, of Libertyville IL, beloved husband of Doris (Wirth) Lothspeich for 56 years, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2017 at Spring Meadows, Libertyville, IL. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his children: Kathryn Lothspeich-Hughes and David (Nancy) Lothspeich, 2 siblings: Mary Spaeth and Dick (Theresa) Lothspeich, and 8 Grandchildren: Kory Hughes, Korinne Hughes, Kollin Hughes, Jonathan Lothspeich, Rebecca Lothspeich, Mary Grace Lothspeich, Michael Lothspeich, and Margaret Lothspeich. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Minnie Lothspeich, and his sisters Margaret Lykken and Betty Nowatzki. Dale was born in Langdon, North Dakota on January 6, 1934. Upon graduation from high school he proudly served in the US Army with a tour of duty in Germany. Following his service to his country he located to Waukegan, IL in 1956 to work for the Milwaukee Road Railroad/Metra. Dale met and married Doris Ione Wirth on August 13, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Waukegan and moved to Libertyville, IL in 1962, where he worked as a Station Agent in various locations, including Morton Grove and Deerfield for nearly 40 years. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Grand Knight and was a dedicated volunteer coordinating countless fundraising events for Marytown. Dale never met a stranger! He was known for his witty sense of humor and unselfish character, and was an avid baseball fan celebrating the Cubs 2016 World Series win. In his early 60's he failed in his first retirement and opened Dale's Coffee Shop in the Deerfield Train station. He and his wife enjoyed their many years "snowbirding" in Windsor Park, AZ developing many special lifelong friends. His favorite past times included playing pool and cribbage. He will be dearly missed by his wife, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121E. Maple Avenue, Libertyville, IL. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, Lake Street, Libertyville, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marytown, or the Gift of Life, Philadelphia, PA.
